A few months ago I did a small, intimate gig in a piano store. Before I did my set, I was approached by the owner, who said, "Do you mind if I play a couple of songs with you on stage?" I was kind of taken back, as I have never heard him play and I had my whole set planned out. I kind of gave a half chuckle and politely told him NO!
Dude. This guy would not take no for an answer and kept buggin' me. He was also the host and emcee (great), so after he announced me, he makes a beeline towards me "Hey come on man, just give me a chance", at this time Im thinking this guy is insane, I got to get out of here. So anyways during intermission, my immediate plan is to hide out in the mensroom and lock the door until second half of show so I don't see him and rush back onto the stage. Unfortunately I didn't know where the restrooms where and had the misfortune (or so i thought) of bumping into him as I was trying to find it. As I looked up at him (The guy is at least 6.2") He had this sad dejected kind of look on his face, and I just couldn't take it no more.
Ok man ONE song!! "Awesome", he said, "You won't be disappointed", well as it turned out,I wasn't. He was ri-donculous on the ivories and we ended up having this big old jam session in the green room. During the second half of the show I called him up on stage. We ended up doing 10 songs together and he brought the house down. After the show I told him we needed to do a video, and so, here we are! By the way, his name is BRIGHAM LARSON and he has more hair than me, which of course makes me very jealous.
