WHY THESE SUICIDE PREVENTION CONCERTS?
Mental health is just as important as physical health.
At the age of 16, Alex attempted to take his life, but was saved by the lyrics to a song, which ultimately changed the direction of his life. Alex says "The profound effect that song had on me healed me, it was like 10 years of therapy in 3 minutes and 58 seconds, and I have never been the same!" In 2019, Alex Boyé wrote a moving song about suicide prevention called Bend Not Break, which turned into an anthem for survivors.

Since then, spreading this important message has become his lifelong mission. We think Alex describes it best in this video where he explains the story behind the song and context of the meaningful music video.

Alex Boyé has been a part of multiple suicide prevention events elsewhere. By any measure, these events have been successful and impactful for each community. Here is a short video montage of a Mountain America Credit Union-sponsored event in Sandy, UT.

Thanks to social media, many shared, posted and messaged about the positive impact the event had on them personally. First responders also reached out to report tangible outcomes, like the emergency dispatch employee that wrote:

“Sometimes we do things and don’t really know the outcome. It has been 5 days since your show here. I thought I would share with you that we haven’t had a suicide the past 5 days (where we had 3 the week you came) and our suicide ideation calls to law enforcement have been averaging 1-2 a day the past 5 days compared to 4-6 before your show. I truly believe you are making a difference.”

WILL YOU CO-SPONSOR OUR NEXT EVENT?
You may be one of the many who has been affected by the tragic loss of a friend or loved one to suicide. Maybe you have been on the other side of a terrifying conversation with someone who was struggling. You may have personally experienced thoughts of suicide. These experiences, conversations, and thoughts are occurring constantly throughout our community and it leaves people feeling lost, ashamed and alone. If so, you are not alone. This is a prevalent and widespread problem. Our interest is specifically focused on teenagers as we believe early mental health intervention is essential.
